Doodle Den

Doodle Den is an after-school literacy programme targeted at children aged 5 to 6 years of age in Senior Infants. The programme  focuses on improving children’s literacy through a wide range of activities, with a child, parent, and family component, and it places a strong emphasis on parental engagement.

Doodle Den is delivered throughout the academic year, and to over 16 groups of children annually. In addition to Tallaght, the programme has been delivered in Dublin Inner City, Limerick, Carlow and Wexford. We look forward to further extending it’s delivery.

The programme has been found to not only improve children’s literacy, but also their school attendance, family library use, family reading and children’s social skills. We also have a website with lots of games and activities that children aged five and six can enjoy with the help of a parent or other adult.
