What is Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library?
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a free book gifting programme for children aged from birth to 5, living in Dublin 24, brought to Ireland by CDI in 2019. On signing up, eligible children will receive a special book delivery every month until their 5th birthday.
In partnership with An Post and several other benevolent organisations, we deliver handpicked age-appropriate tales that spark the imagination of young readers in Dublin 24, from newborns to 5-year-olds. Register your child for the Imagination Library below and prepare to embark on a reading journey like no other. In as little as eight weeks, you will receive these captivating books once per month, all for free. The booklists are updated regularly.

We believe reading is not just about words; it is a journey of emotions and connections. Your child’s world expands with every page turn, nurturing their heart, mind, and soul. The selection of books provided as part of the Imagination Library changes yearly, but here is the Imagination Library booklist to give you a taste of the books you might see arriving on your doorstep.
When did Dolly Parton start the Imagination Library, and why did she start it?
Inspired by her father, Dolly Parton established the Imagination Library in her home county of Tennessee in 1995 with the aim of encouraging reading in young children. The programme has since grown to become an international book gifting phenomenon. With the Imagination Library delivering books across the USA, Australia, the UK and Canada, CDI is delighted to deliver books to 5,000 children in Dublin 24 every month.
How do I sign up?
Register your child for the Imagination Library below. In as little as eight weeks, your child will start receiving books once per month, all for free!
Eligibility Criteria:
- The child is between 0 and their 5th birthday
- The child’s address is in Dublin 24
If your child meets the above criteria, register them for the Imagination Library below.
