I have really enjoyed delivering this programme at Scoil Íde. It has given me the opportunity to get to know both the pupils and the parents involved in the programme better.

The duration of the programme was also good as neither the parents nor the pupils lost interest, they are still enjoying the weekly sessions. This is reflected in the attendance at the doodle family sessions. I also really enjoyed the interactions between the parents and the children, taking a step back and allowing the children to work on activities with their parents. 

The benefits of this programme are evident. A parent stated last week that her daughters reading has improved, and she is really enjoying reading now. I believe that the children have also become more confident because of participating in the Doodle Families programme. The children feel more comfortable reading and sharing their opinions on what they have read etc. in the smaller groups.

Another major advantage of the programme is the provision of the opportunity for parents to spend more time with their children and become more involved in their child’s learning. As well as that, the girls that participated in the Doodle Families programme have also become members of the local library in Coolock. They thoroughly enjoyed the library visit and some parents mentioned that they will bring the girls to the library in the future.
