Hanen Teacher Talk Training (3 x 2.5 hour sessions)
This course is for ELC and school staff and provides key strategies to help them create language rich learning environments for children in their settings. It is designed to engage learners through discussions and video examples to give practical skills that they can use within their classroom to meet individual children’s needs.
Learners will be able to identify children’s conversational styles and the role teachers play in interactions, as well as understand how these affect a child’s ability and willingness to communicate
- implement six steps to following the child’s lead – Observe, Wait and Listen, Be Face to Face, Imitate, Interpret, Comment, and Join in and Play
- Help children become better conversation partners by using appropriate questions, comments and other turn-taking cues
- use five important steps to ensure that no child gets left out of the interaction during group activities
By the end of the training, participants will have developed a practical Action Plan which they can implement with a child who has a communication delay or who is challenging to interact with.
Each participant will receive a copy of the Teacher Talk™ workbook titled Encouraging Language Development in Early Childhood Settings. Throughout the training, participants will have opportunities to personalise the content by taking notes in special sections of the workbook.
This training course will take place online via Zoom.
Please note: Booking will close on the October 28th at 12pm to ensure course materials can arrive on time.
