Dr Jennifer O’Sullivan is a lecturer in literacy in Marino Institute of Education. She is the current president of the Literacy Association of Ireland and is the author of Sounds Like Phonics and A Sound Beginning for Reading. She is also co-creator of the YouTube channel The Literacy Channel. Her doctoral studies focused on the effectiveness of a phonological awareness programme in junior infants in a DEIS Band 1 school.
Jennifer is going to give us a brief introduction to the science of reading and look at Scarborough’s Rope model in achieving a balanced literacy approach to children’s literacy development.
This is a free online event for Facilitators in the Doodle programmes, or those who are interested in more about literacy approaches for children. The event will be hosted on Zoom.
